Press Release: CAPE Course Equips Educators to Lead Cybersafety Education

Toronto, ON – As cyber threats continue to evolve, teachers, librarians, police outreach officers, community leaders, and those supporting newcomers are increasingly on the frontlines of digital safety, guiding individuals of all ages through an online world filled with risks. To address this urgent need, the KnowledgeFlow Cybersafety Foundation has launched CAPE: Cybersafety Awareness for Public Educators, a free, self-paced online course designed to equip educators with essential cybersafety knowledge and tools to better support their communities.

According to a 2020 survey by Morning Consult on behalf of IBM, 44% of K-12 and college educators reported not having received basic cybersecurity training, with an additional 8% unsure if they had been trained. This lack of preparedness leaves not only educators but also their students and communities vulnerable to cyber threats.

“Educators are natural digital role models, yet many are left without the proper training to navigate online risks,”

“CAPE fills this gap by offering practical, easy-to-implement cybersafety best practices that educators of all types can use immediately in their classrooms and community programs.”
