“Charting Your Course: A Map from Cybersafety to Cybersecurity” a Revolutionary New Resource for Canadian Teens To Be Created by KnowledgeFlow Cybersafety Foundation

Toronto, ON – KnowledgeFlow Cybersafety Foundation is thrilled to announce our selection as a Net Good by CIRA Grant Recipient. CIRA Grants fund internet projects for charities, not-for-profits, Indigenous communities and academics that are doing good things for and through the Canadian internet.

The Net Good by CIRA Grant will fund the development of “Charting Your Course: A Map from Cybersafety to Cybersecurity”, a course designed specifically for Canadian high school students to empower the next generation with essential cybersafety best practices, hands-on experience, and pathways to exciting careers in cybersecurity. This project supports CIRA’s goal to build a resilient, trusted and secure internet for all Canadians.

KnowledgeFlow Co-Founder, Claudiu Popa, highlighted the relevance of Charting Your Course, saying, “In today’s increasingly interconnected world, cybersafety and cybersecurity have become critical for individuals and organizations alike. Our course will not only equip students with the necessary knowledge but also link personal best practices to broader cybersecurity concepts, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the field.”

“Everyone deserves to feel safe and empowered online,” said Charles Noir, vice president of community investment, policy and advocacy at CIRA. “But with the rise of cyberattacks, our research shows Canadians can feel anxious about threats to their online security and privacy. That’s why we’re proud to support projects like Charting Your Course, which will equip Canadian students with the skills they need to start their journey into the cybersecurity field.”

KnowledgeFlow is proud to partner with One North End, Sisters In Sync and Developing Young Leaders of Tomorrow, Today, esteemed community organizations dedicated to serving typically marginalized populations. These strategic collaborations will ensure that students in underserved communities have equal opportunities to participate in the course.

“We enthusiastically support this initiative, recognizing the significance of empowering young minds to embrace cybersafety and explore fulfilling careers in cybersecurity. We believe this course will make a substantial impact on the lives of high school students and the future of cybersecurity in Canada” stated Sheena Bolton, Manager of K-12, CyberTitan and Cyber Education Initiatives at the Information and Communications Technology Council.

“Charting Your Course” will be available for enrollment in the Fall, providing high school students with an exciting opportunity to embark on their cybersecurity journey. More information can be found at KnowledgeFlow.org.
