Victims and Survivors of Crime Week 2025
May 11 - May 17

Victims and Survivors of Crime Week 2025
Victims and Survivors of Crime Week is observed annually in Canada and, in 2025, takes place from May 11 to 17. This important week is dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges faced by victims and survivors of crime, and to highlighting the services, support systems, and legal measures available to assist them and their families. Launched by the Government of Canada and supported by various organizations nationwide, the week underscores a recurring theme: “The Power of Collaboration.”
Throughout Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, events, both virtual and in-person, are organized by government agencies, nonprofits, and community groups to share stories, promote dialogue, and foster collaboration between service providers and the public. These initiatives aim not only to recognize the resilience of survivors but also to build a more informed and supportive society.
For cybersecurity professionals, this week also presents a timely opportunity to reflect on how digital crime affects victims and what role the tech community plays in prevention, protection, and recovery. Whether it’s fraud, identity theft, or sextortion, the technological advancements have created new instances for victimization, making cybersecurity an essential part of victim support.
KnowledgeFlow
At KnowledgeFlow, we’re committed to helping communities build resilience against cybercrime through education and awareness. Our Cybersafety Awareness for Public Educators (CAPE) course offers practical tools for victim services staff, educators, and community leaders to integrate cyber safety into their work. From real-world case studies to ready-to-use workshop materials, CAPE is designed to be hands-on, accessible, and impactful.
We’re also addressing urgent digital threats like sextortion, offering clear guidance on how to respond, what to document, how to report incidents, and where to find support.
Our Guide to Digital Self-Defense is another essential resource, equipping individuals and organizations with the knowledge needed to recognize and respond to tech abuse, including cyberstalking, online harassment, and digital exploitation.
Let’s use this week to deepen our understanding, expand our toolkits, and commit to safer, more supportive digital communities for everyone.
