Understanding Scams in the Age of AI: How Scammers are Using AI to Target Seniors
AI is helping scammers create fake voices, realistic messages, and imitation websites that look legitimate. But every scam, whether by phone, text, or email, still shares the same tell-tale warning signs. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to recognize and respond before it’s too late and how to strengthen your digital defenses.
In this interactive workshop, you’ll:
- See real examples of AI-generated scams.
- Learn to spot the common “red flags” across emails, texts, and calls.
- Learn how to officially report to authorities and recover from a scam.
- Get step-by-step guidance on securing your accounts and devices with strong passwords, password managers, and two-factor authentication (2FA).
- Practice safe habits to protect your information, money, and peace of mind.
Build your scam-spotting confidence and take home the tools you need to stay safer in today’s AI-powered world.
Registration is through the Town of Oakville.
