Welcome to the central hub for the Tech Wise cybersafety series.
This page provides facilitators with everything needed to deliver the full six-part program to older adults, including downloadable presentations and direct links to the Interactive Learning Hub. The Interactive Hub offers hands-on practice activities that reinforce each session’s lessons, allowing seniors to safely try skills like spotting scams, checking links, managing passwords, and adjusting device settings in a guided, risk-free environment.
Tech Wise is designed to help seniors feel confident, capable, and safe while using technology. The program teaches practical skills such as recognizing scams, protecting personal information, managing passwords, avoiding fraud, and navigating devices and online services with confidence.
Use this master page to prepare, present, and confidently guide participants as they strengthen their digital safety skills and become more independent and secure online.

Session 1
Spotting Scams & Fraud
In this session, participants will learn how to recognize the most common scams that target seniors, including fraudulent phone calls, fake emails, and suspicious text messages. They will explore the four major scam red flags and learn how scammers use these tactics to create pressure and confusion. This session builds a strong foundation for staying safe online by helping participants understand what to look for so they can stop scams before they start.

The Interactive Hub: Session 1
Participants will engage with hands-on activities that guide them through spotting email header spoofing, identifying fake website URLs, safely checking links, recognizing misleading online ads, and handling pop-ups. These exercises reinforce learning by letting them practice real-world skills on their own devices in a safe environment.
Session 2
Protecting Accounts & Devices
In Session 2, participants will learn how to use password managers, enable two-factor authentication, secure their devices, and practice safe networking with Wi-Fi, VPNs, and hotspots to protect against identity theft and online threats.

The Interactive Hub: Session 2
Participants will engage in activities that help them improve their digital security and privacy. They will explore best practices for managing passwords, securing devices, and recognizing potential risks. ese practices are necessary to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, identity theft, and cyberattacks, helping them stay safe and confident in today’s digital environment.
Session 3
Safer Email & Messaging
In Session 3, participants will learn how to spot fake emails, unsafe attachments, and spoofed phone numbers. They’ll develop skills to verify the sender’s identity before clicking links or replying, building confidence to recognize and avoid common messaging scams. This session helps you stay cautious and protect yourself from digital threats.

The Interactive Hub: Session 3
The activities in Session 3 will equip participants with skills to spot malicious emails, phishing scams, and spoofed numbers. They’ll practice verifying senders, checking links and attachments for safety, and using tools like VirusTotal. The activities also cover securing email settings, encrypting sensitive messages, managing filters, and handling scam texts; helping participants protect their personal information and communicate safely online.
Session 4
Safer Browsing & Social Media
Session 4 will equip participants with essential skills to take control of their online privacy and security. By learning how to manage settings, block risks, and navigate digital platforms safely, they can protect their personal information and reduce exposure to online threats; helping them stay secure while enjoying the benefits of staying connected.

The Interactive Hub: Session 4
In addition to safe social media practices, participants will discover valuable tips and tools to use voice assistants safely by managing permissions and deleting voice recordings to protect their privacy. They’ll explore how AI can simplify everyday tasks like rewriting messages or checking the weather, while learning to spot misinformation using trusted fact-checking sites.
Session 5
Safer Banking & Shopping
In Session 5, Participants will learn how to protect their money and personal information by recognizing fake websites, using secure Wi-Fi, and practicing safe online banking and shopping. These skills are essential to prevent fraud, identity theft, and financial loss in an increasingly digital world.

The Interactive Hub: Session 5
Safe shopping and banking require strong security habits and awareness of common scams. The activities in Session 5 will help you practice setting up two-factor authentication on bank accounts, using mobile payment apps like Apple Pay and Google Pay, creating bookmarks for important websites, enabling transaction alerts, and recognizing online scams to build practical skills to keep their money and information safe.
Session 6
Managing Your Digital Assets
Participants will learn how to take control of their digital assets by organizing and managing their online accounts, photos, and personal information in Session 6. They’ll gain skills to reduce unnecessary data collection, keep track of important digital valuables, and plan for their digital legacy. These tools will help participants safeguard their online presence and ensure their information is protected now and in the future.

Cybersafety Awareness For public Educators
KnowledgeFlow emphasizes the need for a strong foundational understanding to ensure effective instruction. The Cybersafety Awareness for Public Educators (CAPE) program provides an engaging, hands-on learning experience that helps public educators build the confidence and skills needed to teach digital safety effectively.
The course contains practical, library-focused examples and clear explanations helpful for Tech Wise presentation facilitators who want to better support seniors in staying safe online. The course equips educators and staff to anticipate risks, answer questions with confidence, and guide their communities toward safer digital habits.
