Data Privacy Week 2026
January 24, 2026 - January 28, 2026

What is Data Privacy Week?
Data Privacy Week (DPW) is a globally acknowledged initiative dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of privacy and safeguarding personal information.
Data Privacy Day was first established in Canada and the United States in 2008 as an extension of Europe’s Data Protection Day, which commemorates the signing of Convention 108 on January 28, 1981—the first legally binding international treaty on privacy and data protection.
Why is it Important?
Now a week-long, globally acknowledged initiative, Data Privacy Week (DPW) is dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of privacy and safeguarding personal information. The theme for DPW 2026 is “Put Privacy First.”
The event unites individuals, government representatives, corporations, non-profits, academics, educators, and students worldwide with goal of increasing awareness surrounding privacy and data protection.
