SUMMARY:Victims and Survivors of Crime Week 2026
DESCRIPTION:Victims and Survivors of Crime Week 2026\nVictims and Survivors of Crime Week is observed annually in Canada and\, in 2025\, takes place from May 10 to 16. This important week is dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges faced by victims and survivors of crime\, and to highlighting the services\, support systems\, and legal measures available to assist them and their families. Launched by the Government of Canada and supported by various organizations nationwide\, the week underscores a recurring theme: “The Power of Collaboration.” \nThroughout Victims and Survivors of Crime Week\, events\, both virtual and in-person\, are organized by government agencies\, nonprofits\, and community groups to share stories\, promote dialogue\, and foster collaboration between service providers and the public. These initiatives aim not only to recognize the resilience of survivors but also to build a more informed and supportive society. \nFor cybersecurity professionals\, this week also presents a timely opportunity to reflect on how digital crime affects victims and what role the tech community plays in prevention\, protection\, and recovery. SUMMARY:Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:Global Accessibility Awareness Day\nGlobal Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is observed each year on the third Thursday of May to highlight the importance of digital access and inclusion for people with disabilities. The day is dedicated to increasing understanding of the barriers many individuals face online and encouraging more inclusive design practices. \nGAAD focuses on raising awareness for the estimated 1.3 billion people worldwide who live with disabilities by promoting conversations\, learning\, and action around accessibility. It encourages individuals\, organizations\, and communities to reflect on how digital spaces can be made more welcoming and usable for everyone. \nDigital accessibility means designing websites\, apps\, and online tools so they can be accessed by people with a wide range of abilities. This includes ensuring content is easy to perceive\, navigate\, understand\, and use with assistive technologies. GAAD reminds us to build digital environments where all users can participate fully and independently. \nAccessibility in Action at KnowledgeFlow\nAt KnowledgeFlow Cybersafety Foundation\, accessibility is a core part of our vision for an #UnHackable Canada. Digital safety education is only effective if people can truly access\, understand\, and use it. That means designing our resources so they are clear\, readable\, and usable for everyone. \nWe intentionally create materials with readable fonts\, and strong colour contrast to ensure our content is easy to read and digest. Where possible\, we include text-to-speech compatibility and flexible formats so participants can learn in the way that works best for them. \nOur commitment to accessibility reflects our mission to make cybersafety a universal right\, not a privilege. By removing barriers to understanding\, we ensure seniors\, BIPOC youth\, new Canadians\, and people with disabilities can confidently build digital skills\, recognize misinformation\, and protect themselves online. \nVisit our ‘About Us’ page to learn more about our mission and values. \nResources for Teachers on Creating Accessible Content for Students \nThese materials will be available as part of the Professional Development (PD) Day content. The resources will be accessible in advance of the live session. For more information and to register for the PD Day\, please visit the registration page. \nRegister Today
