Each session is interactive\, with real-time practice on your own phone\, tablet\, or laptop\, or you can borrow a device if needed. \n  \n\nSession 1 Breakdown\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn Session 1\, you will learn how to recognize the most common scams targeting seniors\, whether they arrive by phone\, email\, text\, or other digital platforms. You’ll explore how scammers package their messages to create urgency or emotion\, and how their real goal is to access your money\, personal information\, or accounts. You’ll also learn to treat links\, attachments\, and unexpected requests with caution. By understanding these red flags — fear\, urgency\, authority\, and money. You’ll build a strong foundation for spotting scams early and staying safe online. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nWhat makes this program unique:\n\nFraud Prevention Lens: Scam awareness is woven into every session\nAI Awareness Built-In: Learn how artificial intelligence is shaping online scams\, including voice cloning\, fake messages\, and deepfake content\nHands-On Practice: Work directly on your own device\, or borrow one\n#UnHackable Framework: Be Private\, Be Secure\, Be Skeptical\, Be Positive\nFlexible Learning: Attend all six sessions for the full experience\, or drop in for the ones you need most\n\nSession Breakdown: Learning To Become Tech Wise\nSession 1 – Spotting Scams & Fraud: Your First Line of Defense\nLearn how to spot common scams targeting seniors\, including phone fraud\, fake emails\, and suspicious texts. Understand the four scam red flags: fear\, urgency\, authority\, and money. This session builds the foundation; knowing what to look for helps you stop scams before they start. \nIf you believe that you have been a target of fraud\, report the crime to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. \nSession 2 – Protecting Accounts & Devices: Tools to Keep Hackers Out\nGo beyond passwords. Learn to use password managers\, enable two-factor authentication\, and secure your devices against identity theft. You don’t need to remember everything; use the right tools to lock out threats. \nSession 3 – Safer Email & Messaging: Spot the Tricks\, Protect Your Inbox\nLearn how to identify fake messages\, unsafe attachments\, and spoofed numbers. Get comfortable verifying senders before you click or reply. Every message isn’t what it seems; learn to stay skeptical and safe. \nSession 4 – Safer Browsing & Social Media: Stay Connected\, Stay in Control\nUnderstand privacy settings on Facebook and other platforms\, block unsafe ads\, manage permissions\, and browse more safely. You can enjoy social media without oversharing or putting your information at risk. \nSession 5 – Protecting Your Money & Information: Safe Banking\, Shopping\, and Services\nPractice safe online banking\, recognize fake websites\, and learn how to use secure Wi-Fi for sensitive activities. If money or personal info is involved\, it’s worth taking an extra moment to stay secure. \nSession 6 – Managing Your Digital Assets: Safeguard Your Online Valuables\nYour digital photos\, accounts\, and information matter. Learn how to control your digital footprint\, reduce data collection\, and manage your accounts with tools like asset inventories and legacy planning.
